Abstract : In spite of the furnished the efforts of communities these last years, the problem of the access to water in african countries remains of topicality. The practice of intensive breeding in sur-roundings of lakes, is likely to negatively impact the water. The wastes of animals enriched with organic matter, can cause the early disappearance of water ressources through phenomena such as the eutrophication, characterized by the proliferation of algae and higher plants inside water. This study aims at detecting the influence of livestock wastes on the algal proliferation of a the Ziga dam water surface. With this intention, the analysis of certain physicochemical parameters and the algal development, were followed during 20 days, in three water boxes, where the wastes of sheep, of bovines and of poultry were introduced separately. The presence of wastes inside water involved the change of several physico-chemical parameters, pH, iron, conductivity, nitrates, orthophosphates and dissolved oxygen which intensely va-ried, mainly in water with the wastes of poultry (NO3 -: 8,36 mg/l ; PO43-: 6,27 mg/l et O2 : 102,18 %). A microscopic analysis of phytoplankton made it possible to identify twelve kinds of algae having impacts on water quality; and even on the human health. Microcystis aeruginosa which produces microcystines, a group of hepatotoxic toxins, reached a 253 cell/ml on the sixth day maximum after the introduction of wastes inside water. The combination of the results of these parameters proved that water initially mesotrophic, became eutrophic. |
