Abstract : The town of Korsimoro, located in the Sanmatenga Province, is experiencing significant population growth, putting pressure on its existing drinking water supply infrastructure. To address this situation, a project to strengthen the water supply system (AEP) has been initiated under the supervision of National Water and Sanitation Office (ONEA), the national water utility responsible for urban water services in Burkina Faso. The objective of this technical feasibility study is to propose a sustainable, efficient, and locally adapted solution to guarantee equitable access to drinking water for the entire population of Korsimoro by 2040, estimated at 24,654 inhabitants. To meet the estimated daily demand of 1,804.20 m³, the drinking water supply system relies on the operation of six boreholes with a combined flow rate of 61 m³/h, equipped with GRUNDFOS submersible pumps with total dynamic head (TDH) varying between 83.09 m and 106.12 m. The pumped water will be conveyed through a 6,458.86 m long network of PN16 HDPE pipes with diameters ranging from DN 90 to DN 250 mm, then stored in a 300 m³ reinforced concrete water tower, installed at a height of 20 m below the foundation slab, ensuring gravity distribution at optimal pressure. The 10,898.20 m long distribution network supplies 15 public standpipes (11.25 l/s) and 2,818 individual connections (26.09 l/s), using PN10 HDPE pipes of varying diameters (DN63 to DN250 mm). The pumping system is powered by a hybrid system combining 208 solar panels of 300 Wp each and 6 generators. The financial analysis of the project reveals a total cost of 1801,570,848 FCFA (including VAT). The selling price of a cubic meter of water is set at 440 FCFA, covering operating costs, depreciation, and maintaining the financial equilibrium of the service. ONEA will directly manage the system, thus guaranteeing professional operation in accordance with national standards. |
