Abstract : The village of Yona, located in a rural area, has limited access to safe drinking water, with a coverage rate of 36.5?% in 2023. The current supply relies on boreholes equipped with hand pumps and traditional or modern wells, which are insufficient to meet the growing needs of the population. To address this challenge sustainably, a technical study was conducted to implement a Simplified Water Supply System (AEPS). The project aims to serve 80?% of a projected population of 5,215 inhabitants by 2040, with an estimated daily demand of 217.63?m³. This estimate is based on specific consumption rates of 25?l/person/day at public water points and 40?l/person/day for private connections. Water will initially be supplied by a borehole with a capacity of 9?m³/h, complemented from 2035 by a second borehole producing 5?m³/h. Water will be pumped over 1,475?m to an 80?m³ metallic reservoir situated at 12?m elevation, using a Grundfos SP 9-21 submersible pump operating under a total dynamic head of 89?m. The pump will be powered by a hybrid system combining 9.6?kWc photovoltaic solar energy and a 15?kVA diesel generator. The main rising main will be constructed with 90?mm PN16 PEHD pipes. The gravity-fed distribution network, 5,053?m long, will serve 7 public water points (each equipped with three taps delivering 0.25?l/s) and 292 private connections, using PEHD PN10 pipes ranging from 32 to 160?mm. The total project cost is estimated at 263,524,429?FCFA (including taxes), with water prices set at 350?FCFA/m³ at public points and 450?FCFA/m³ for private connections. The AEPS will be managed under a lease contract to ensure professional and sustainable operation of the water supply service. |
