"This report contains brief descriptions of the most recent economic development plans in effect in several countries of western Africa. For the countries covered, this report supersedes OBR 73-21, "" Digest of Africa countries economic development plans, issues in June 1973 . Although the character and scope of the plans vary from country to country, they generally share the cammon aim of identifying investment projects designed to help fulfill national objectives. Most plans indicate specific amounts of capital expenditures for each project. Consequently, they constitue useful research tools for US firms interested in marketing or investing in Africa. It should be pointed out, howerver, that these development plans are only expressions of intent or desire. Countries studied in this report are : Cameroun, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra-Leone and Togo." |
