Note générale :	A performance test is carried out on an 185 g.ft. savonius rotor on an open site. The shaft out put is determined by measuring the brake torque exerted by a silk band brake. The shaft speed and power output were non dimensionalised power coefficient plotted against tip speed ratio. The peak power coefficient of 0.14 is attained at a stip speed ratio for 0.7. In an appendix consideration is given to the application of savonius rotor to pumping, and test results is given for the 185 g.ft. savonius rotor harnessed to a diaphragm pump. It is conclused that a savanius rotor pump system operates quite satisfactorily, and is indeed a pratical design of windmill. It is however, only about helf as efficient as the conventional fan mill ...
