Abstract : Thermal inertia constitutes an essential asset to store the energy received by some building and to restore it when that is necessary. It makes it possible to store the contributions of the solar radiation to reduce the load of air-conditioning. An optimal exploitation of inertia passes by a suitable selection of building materials since the phase of design. This study consisted in working out a thermal computational tool of the loads by taking of account thermal inertia and to provide elements of economic analysis in the choice of building materials. We first of all studied and applied some computational tools of heat balance which the engineering and design departments use. It comes out from this study that the heat balances obtained lead to disparate results. The evaluation of a heat balance on a building of 12 m2 built in BTC, reduced the thermal load of 18,40 % compared to a building in breeze block. The building in BTC, enables us to make a saving of 15 450 872 FCFA for a 40 years period on the load of air-conditioning and to lost in order of 114 899 FCFA on the initial investment.Mémoire Master d'ingénierie Energie.
