Note générale : |
Following the successful completion of stage I of the desert locust satellite application in 1976, it is decided by approach across the four north Africa countries of Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia, a much larger area than that embraced by stage I, which is concerned only with the ahaggar region of southern Algeria. The new study area is far larger than the old covering some 424 sq. of latitude and longitude, compared with 16 sq in stage I. The differences between the rainfall technic employed in the two stage are, in part, a consequence of the increase in the size of the area covered, but such differences are related also to the apportunity for a short historical study of rainfall cloud relationships in the new study area, and experience gaine in stage I. and in other studies. Data deficiencies further influenced the establishement of the new technique to some degree. |
