Abstract : In France, the national road network can capture nearly 196 TWh per year. To better ex- ploit this potential energy of roads, several projects have emerged. One of these projects is the Dromotherm project (http://www.dromotherm.com) on which this study relates. This project aims to recover the thermal energy of the pavements through the circulation of a heat transfer fluid in a layer porous, to store it at the base of buildings and to use it for heating and domestic hot water needs. Through this study, we are designing an inter-seasonal storage de- monstrator coupled to a Dromotherm type road heat exchanger. The designed device comprises a 30 m2, a thermal storage of 45 m3, consisting of an insulated concrete tank filled with sa- turated sand and including geothermal heat exchangers and a wooden building of 20 m2. We have developed a global simulation model of such a device in order to study its dynamic energy behavior over a typical year. It emerges from our simulations that with such a device, approxi- mately 8 to 20 % of the solar energy which arrives on the surface of the roadway is transmitted to the heat transfer fluid circulating in the roadway. This solar thermal energy received by the fluid is stored and the use of a heat pump makes it possible to produce domestic hot water for a family of 6 people occupying a low consumption building of 120 m2 in summer and to heat the same building in winter, whose heating needs amount to 3149 kWh per year.
The demonstrator is scheduled for February 2021 on Savoie Mont Blanc University site. This experimental platform will be used to validate the concept of the system and the digital models developed. |
