Multiple linear regression on soil clay content and rainfall accounted for 46.5 per cent and 57.2 per cent, respectively, of the observed variability of soil charbon and citrogen contents. These findings suggest that the low levels of organic matter in Savanna soils arise from their predominantly sandy nature and from the relatively low significantly related to clay content and rainfall. The influence of human interference and of parent material and altitude an organic matter is demonstrated in the context of geographically limited area within the Savanna for which more detailed information is available.
