The goal of this project presentd in this paper was to develop a framework for evaluating alternative development strategies for the sahel sudan region of west Africa. This summary of the work consists of five part. Part 1provides an introductory statement of the project's background and objectives. Part 2, outlines approaches which were examined as potentially useful in constructing a framework for identifying and assessing lon-term development strategies for the sahel-sudan region and describes the approch followed. Part 3, presents out interpretation of the basic problems facing the sahel-sudan region while. Part 4, examines alternative actions that might be taken to cape with the basic problems. Part 5, summarizes the finding of the various sector in to which the overal study was subdivided. |
