Stochastic methods have long been appied to problems in certain fields of hydraulics. The firts international symposium on stochastic hydraulics held in Pittsburg, 1971, showed the tendency of applying stochastic methods to new areas of hydraulics. The symposium also showed a strend towards more sophisticated stochastic methods. This strend became even more pronounced at the second international symposium on stochastic hydraulics held in Lund August 2-4, 1976, where the papers presented showed a wide spectrum of hydraulic problems approached by stochastic methods and the introduction of new statistical concepts. It consists of communications of participants into three parts. Part 1, concerns analysis and simulation of stochastic hydraulic process. Part 2 is based on risk analysis and part 3 evokes water resources systems. |
