This book derives in part from a theis submitted for a diploma in forestry at the University of Oxford in 1968. However, much of the thinking that has influenced its present form is due to my extensive tours of ten of the twelve states of the Fereration beetween 1969 and 1970. Before then, my know ledge of the forestry situation in Nigeria was handicaped by lack of field experience. This deficiency has been largely corrected by insits to forest reserves in various locations and through discussions with experienced fild staff, industrialists, research officers, and chief conservatros of forests. |
