The inspiration for this bibliography came from a report of the National Academy of Sciences Projects on Human Environments in Central Africa. The technical director of the project, Dr P. J Bohannan, concluded that the most dovious research need in all of Negro Africa... is for a through evaluation of all or a reasonnable sample, of the agricultural development programs which have been carried in Africa during the last 50 or 60 years, but particulary since world war II. It becomes obvioud that because agriculturalists, social scientists and other developers do not have any institutionalized means of profiting by one auther's mistakes, the same mistakes are made over and over gain. Here appeared to be a case where a contribution could be made by drawing toghether what has been published about African agricultural developement schemas, something which has not been done even for specific régions or countries this rapport presents African Agricultural development schemes. |
