Note générale :	This paper presents a literature review concerning pour-flush toilets and pit latrine emptying. In first section, dealing with pour-flush WC's a number of design figures are given. The work conludes that sufficient input data are available today. The pollution control of the infiltration area and safety distance to water wells are not yet fully eluciated in the literature. The second section, dealing with pit latrine emptying, concludes that there are great problems and that few ideas have been put in practice so far. Finally this work gives a reference list in three sections. One for especially pour-flush we's one for only pit latrine emptying and on with mixed relevant literature.
