Abstract : In Burkina Faso, the ravagers and diseases of the cultures cause damage considerable being able to generate 30% of the losses of the agricultural production. Thus, the use of pesticides seems to be the alternative to the protection of the plants. It is in this context with double stake with knowing: to increase the agricultural production and to protect the environment that our study relating to the practices associated with the truck farming around the dam Ziga which takes part in more than 71% in the system of supply water of the town of Ouagadougou, aimed at:
- To identify the various practices in the management of the pesticides, as well in the market-gardeners as in the retailers,
- To count the cases of intoxication with close to the personnel of the centers of health and the modes of management of the cases of intoxication related to the pesticide,
- To evaluate the medical and environmental risk related to the use of pesticide,
This study was carried out starting from several investigations carried out near market-gardeners, retailers of pesticides and the personnel of the centers of health of the rural district of Nagréongo. On the whole, 45 market-gardeners were surveyed including 68.89% men, with a high rate of illiterates (88.89%).Also, 26 formulations were listed at the market-gardeners including 65% not approved by the CSP and 34 products plant health in the retailers. The most used pesticides were: the conquest 88 (26.92%), the super lambda (34.62%), the polythrine (23.08%) and the fokozeb (30.77%) and 66% of these pesticides have a toxicity according to the WHO of class II the evaluation of the medical risk starting from model WHO, had taken into account the 5 active matters most representative with knowing the acetamipride, the cyperméthrine, the lambdacyhalothrine, the profenofos and chlorpyriphos-ethyl. Also, the evaluation of the environmental risk consisted in seeking and quantifying a certain number of molecules in various compartments of the environment (water, sediment and ground).
It comes out from this evaluation that in spite of the weak concentrations of exposure at the human one and the presence of weak concentration of pesticide in the environment, of the risks remain.
The best followed toxicological parameters of the pesticides on the environment and human health is essential. |
