Abstract : As part of the training at the International Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE), students in their second year of the master degree are expected to submit a final dissertation as part of their school curriculum.
The following area of research has been agreed upon with the institute as part of the study topic:
"The role of the manager in modern day dynamic technological environment: Implications of the constantly evolving technical environments on the Fekola Mining business units. Possible management solutions to ensure smooth transition from one technological dimension to another with minimal disruptions to business activities and strategic planning”.
The research involves multi-stage analysis and various levels of technological implementation, which include :
Description of the nature of the technological change, benefits and shortfalls of the implementation to direct and downstream business entities including the cost benefit analysis. New technology always faces resistance from the human resources base that is used in performing work function in a particular style, which could have been used repeatedly over years. As such, the implementation of new technology always face human resistance hence the need for strategic commissioning of the new technology to minimize disruption to business activities. This study therefore proposes preparedness tools for implementation and management of dynamic technology.
This study seeks to use Fekola's Mining Department as conceptual framework in managing strategic dynamic technological solutions to mining business units. The study will include a brief description of selected technological advancement, methodology of the investigation, analysis and interpretation of the data and finally the conclusion. |
