Abstract : The city of Diffa in Niger, capital of the region of the same name, is facing problems of rainwater drainage. Among the main causes of these problems are, for example, the non-functioning of the existing network and the non-existence of rainwater drainage networks in certain districts of the city. Thus, as part of the festivities for the national rotating holiday of the Republic of Niger, the Niger government is planning to rehabilitate and build major infrastructure, one of the components of which concerns rainwater treatment facilities. It is in this context that this memorandum was initiated with the theme: "Contribution to the preliminary project study for the rehabilitation of the rainwater drainage network of the city of Diffa in Niger".
The general objective of this study is to provide the city of Diffa with a new rainwater drainage network. In order to achieve the specific objectives of this work, first of all, we have proposed a new network that will cover the city entirely by completely isolating the existing network. Secondly, we made a study of the costs of the realization of the different collectors of the network without the crossing works and finally we made an environmental and social impact notice.
The entire network obtained extends over a line of about 44.30 km composed of primary and secondary collectors. Thus, six (6) main collectors of rectangular and trapezoidal shape have been proposed whose outlets will be the Koumadougou river located along the South-East and North-East of the city. An environmental and social impact statement has been prepared proposing a provisional five (5) year ESMP, as well as recommendations for the optimal operation of the works. The total cost of the project amounts to approximately 5 thousand CFA francs including the tax and the provisional PGES. |
