Despite some early problems the ultimate scope and success of the relief made it a classic of cooperation between least developed countries and the international aid community. The agronomy of the people and the intensity of our effort produced a singular concentration on the nature of the problems faced by the sahel and on the kends of programs which might prevent a repeat of disaster. From this has come realization that a truly global oppoach to development in the sahel should be considered.
