Abstract : The bioclimatic approach of the design of habitats in hot and dry climate recommends walls with high thermal inertia and appropriate ventilation to improve the indoor climate. However, several studies carried out have highlighted the value of adding thermal resistance to the high inertia layer in BTC. The present study focuses on the evaluation of the thermal comfort of a prototype house built in BTC to which a thermal insulation has been associated.
Emphasis was placed on the relative position of the wall layer that offers the best interior comfort. For this purpose, three configurations have been implemented: (i) a single-layer BTC wall, and a double-layer wall: (ii) the BTC layer on the outside and the insulating layer on the inside, and (iii) the reverse configuration where the BTC layer was on the inside and the insulating layer on the outside. In addition, three ventilation modes were also studied: night ventilation, continuous ventilation and no ventilation, in other words, the building remained closed
Indoor and outdoor temperature sensors as well as a weather station were used to acquire the necessary data. The results show that external insulation is the most efficient configuration for achieving comfort, unlike internal insulation. As for passive ventilation strategies, the ventilation of the closed room is the one that presented the greatest reduction interior amplitude. |
